Is this hood worth saving?

I'm going to try and show the pictures.

I have to get my car on the road again first, but I'm trying to asses what I have to do to get everything nice again. And start collecting parts. The next question is, is it worth having the hood insulation?

i personally dont think the insulation serves much of a purpose. only reason i think id leave it is to maybe preserve the pain ton the surface above, cause i dont think it'll put any fires out

the hood could be saved . is it worth it , no way . much better ones can be found for much less than repair on the one you have . the hood insulation was put on for sound deadening . my thoughts on sound deadening are as follows . if i have an engine noise i want to hear it right away . i don't want it covered up by insulation . good luck .

Simple answer....no. As for hood insulation, leave it off.

See, I want the insulation back on my hood. Dampens alot of the sewing machine noises from the valve train.

I just haven't paid for it yet.

the insulation also keeps the heat off the hood.

I would like to hear the difference in having insulation and not for sound, and is there other better options, the stock stuff is ugly, gets dirty and falls apart!!

Gotta remember the stock stuff is near 22 years old at best. My insulation on my old hood was 21 years old and looked ragged. But it was 22 years old.

You can get some cheaper stuff too. $40 or so + shipping.

Would be awesome to have one of the ones below though.

Re: Is this hood worth saving?

I've had hood insulation put a fire out in the past, when the fire heated it up, it dropped on teh top of the engine, and suffocated it, keeping damage to a minimum. This wasn't on a Camaro though, so I can't speak to it's specific insulation.
