holes through rear wheelwell
I traded a a motorcycle for a 1989 firebird. The motor is nice. he said its a rebuilt 350 out of a nova. Its all kinda ghetto rigged though as it doesnt use the computer. but i was checking it out today and i have rust holes though both the rear wheelwells. Can this be fixed? or should i not bother with this car? I also noticed the driver side floorpan is going to need to changed. Thanks

check the car out really well, maybe enev pull the carpet. If the floors are rotted, and the rear wells are as bad as you say, it may not be worth bothering with. You can find clean rollers for pretty cheap still, or just part out the car and scrap the rest.
i looked at a car last year with a hole i coul put my head through in the rear inner wheel well. car was "rust free", couldnt find a panel on the car that didnt have bubbles forming or poorly patched over rust

Re: holes through rear wheelwell
Since you already have the car its your choice. I agree that a rust free roller is the best way to go. But mine has lots of rust. So far I have replaced the drivers floor, passenger quarter panel, both doors, and I am working on the fender wells. I had a big hole on the drivers side but I welded in a patch. The rear seat belt was barely hanging on and now is stronger than original. So far I have less than a grand in it (including buying the car) because parts are so reasonable. I bought a welder and I am learning to weld with some help. It doesnt make since to do what I did but I wanted to learn. You can patch the inner fender well but its not easy. Just make sure you get all the rust out and treat the metal after you weld in the new fabricated panels.

here are the pics of the rust in the wheelwells. I think im either going to get a portable welder to come and check it out or possible just bring into a bodyshop depending on the prices. gotta love new england cars.

im not too worried about the driver floor as ive heard this is quite common and a fairly straight forward fix. anybody know where the best price on a replacement driver side floor would be?
