well im looking to repaint my car after i get the motor done. it is white now. i want to redo it white but i dont know what shade. need to know soon becaus under the hood needs painted real soon. i was originaly going to do white diamond tri coat from the cadillac but im sure it is expensive and from what i hear hard to paint. so i was looking about and thought maybe the summit white from the 2010 camaro, or an arctic white i saw on a camaro on cardomain and i liked that.

let me know what you think or post pic of your white car and what kind of white it is.

 

Paint it Toyota "Super White" it can't get any brighter than that!

 

I like the white on the GM cars code 16 from a 97 model it is a bright white and the diamond white is not a hard color to spray and it cost me about $125 dollors more to do a Tri coat I dont know why people charge $1000 more to do a pearl coat the only draw back to the diamond whit is when you have to do spot repair

 

I painted the 87 I had with a white used on late 90s dodge vans. It was so bright it hurt your eyes to look at if the sun was shining on it. I will see if I can find the color code.

 

thanks to everyone. ill have to look at some of those colors you guys mentioned. all i heard about he tri coat is the 2nd layer is hard to paint because it runs easy. i guess that part is the tri coat part? not sure.

 

Mid coat is hard to see as it's translucent. Easy to run like clear just not as shiny. Other than that it's not that hard to spray. Never tried to spot blend yet. Did repaint my hood and it matches pretty good. Getting everything covered evenly is biggest trick. Most midcoats contain high amounts of pearls. That's part of the reason it's more expensive. I painted my wife's Sebring with a white with a blue pearl. It was at G14 and everyone seemed to like the color. She does anyway, that's who counts with her car. LOL May look good on third gen with blue interior.

 

My 91 is in the shop getting painted pure white. I had the paint guy do a panel of GM's arctic white (1991) and a panel of just the white base with no tint. The un-tinted white makes the arctic white look yellowish!!! I'm looking forward to seeing the car when he starts painting. I'll be sure to post up some pics.

 

How about Champion White from Honda? I'm pretty sure that's what it's called. Can't remember what cars they used it on though. Maybe the Prelude and S2000?

 

such a hard desision because i want to be completly happy in the end. i did think about doing a white with a color sparkle in it... something like silver. my interior is red for now. my TA seats are dark gray so im not sure if my interior will stay red forever. may try to match the seats.

i have tryied to see pics of different whites but that is hard to tell on a computer screen. judging by pics i have seen i was liking the arctic white?

Throw the old school Pearl in the clear coat. I think that is how it is applied. Gives your car that pearl shine that shifts colors slightly, based on the viewing angle.

Arctic White is the whitest white that I've seen. Check with a body paint paint guy, if your looking for different whites. He's probably seen more than most of us (that aren't painters) combined.

I couldn't remeber whos car convinced me that Artic White was the best (IMHO), but yeah....That is the car!

 

i still have not dicide what i want but i went do a dealer last night and looked at a 10 camaro in summit white. im pretty sure im going with that. it seems like a nice white for the car.

that pearl idea would still work on top of the summit white so ill look into that.

that spike Z is how i saw arctic white. im in love with that car haha.

well i decided on the 2010 camaro white. the only thing is that i found out was that it is not called summit white, even thought that is what the dealer calls it. it is actually olypic white. according to the paint code in ppg. i got the paint tonight and ill be painting tommorw after work.

have to start the heater in the morning it get the shop warmed up haha
