91-92 camaro chin spoiler attachment question

Hello, Im putting the aero ground effects on my 83 camaro and I have a question about what is used to attach the plastic tabs that I had to make slots for on the bottom of the front fenders. Is there some kind of metal clip or something? Does anybody have a part number or a picture? Nobody around here has one or I'd just check it out. I know what ever GM used is different than the previous models. Thanks for any help.

Most of them break upon removal. Haven't seen many that didn't. I made mine out of 20 gage and some 10 mm bolts.

lol, I'm at the same point. I'm putting the chin back on, and where the plastic tabs go through the fender. I can't remember what attaches on the other side, was there a bracket?

Anyone have a pic?

I will be researching this also. I had to buy a used spoiler to replace the spoiler I never had. If I can find a car around here to take a picture of. I will post it for you.

Thank You, I would really appreciate it!
What really sucks is I remember taking something off my donor car, but for the life of me can't remember what it looked liked or where i may have put it. I'm hoping if I see a pic, I'll be like 'oh ya that thing'

Can anyone here, take a pic of behind there? We just need to see what part attaches the chin to the fender.

I know I have whatever it is, somewhere here. I just can't remember what it looks like.

Re: 91-92 camaro chin spoiler attachment question

I did figure out that the plastic tabs on the spoiler fit into the slots on the fenders. Then there is just a metal clip that goes over each tab. Im trying to find a picture of these clips.

Yep I have those, those are the ones that go toward the front of the chin.

The clips you mentioned yesterday, I think I know what you're talking about.
Are they the ones that have the little teeth on them.

I think I have some of those, I'll look.

I'm not sure what the clips look like. I have never seen one. I went to the dealership and the couldn't help me either. I emailed Denny at the ThirdGen Ranch about it. Hopefully he gets back to me.

I found one of the clips I 'thought' was it, but it's not too small.

Can anyone walk outside and take a quick pic of this for us? I'm taking the car in on Monday to get painted, and I want to make sure I have everything they need to put it back together right.

Does this help? It's a pic of how the front left corner of the GFX is attached to the front.

Also a view that shows the front clips to the frame.

Thanks for taking those pics, but the area we need are where the chin has those tabs that go through the fenders. Something is supposed to attach to those tabs on the inside of the fender. Not sure what they look like though.

T-Top Havoc,
Thanks for sending me the pictures, not quite the area of the chin I need though.
I've got mine off the car, see these tabs something is supposed to go on these to help keep the chin up against the fender

I am not sure if they are the same, my 90 has metal clips that a single bolt, (bolt not screw) goes thru. There is a metal clip for each hole, under the bumper. There is a metal flat piece of galvanize with 3 studs to connect to each fender.

Re: 91-92 camaro chin spoiler attachment question

I believe it is 91-92 specific. The fenders have slots in them instead of holes for the plastic tabs. The 91-92 front spoilers are different than previous years. They have the vents on the sides under the front fenders.

No problem. It was by chance i found the car. I just happened to see it outside this auto repair shop as I was riding by. It was luck. The only third gen I have seen in weeks happens to be a 91-92 car. Now I have to find someone that I can buy these clips from.

pretty sure it would, but 91 92 fenders were a little different size i have heard, but u have 87 that would possibly not match the chin spoiler mounts but of course it is done all the time here. I think its just a matter of drilling new holes and filling old ones possibly but ask around !
87 or 92 front bumper?

Re: 91-92 camaro chin spoiler attachment question

Ok, here we go. This is a photo of my driver fender. Its a junkyard fender from an older camaro. 80's most likely. Notice the 3 small oval shaped holes. Those are for the older style front spolier. The 2 rectangle slots obove them are ones I cut for the 91-92 style front spoiler. I copied them from my 92 fender and cut them out with my die grinder. You dont need the 3 small holes with the 91-92 style front spoiler. I believe the bumper covers are the same.

RCAR7395, I could use 4 of those clips if you find some. I was going to ask if you hand any of those when I bought that front chin spolier from you. I forgot to though.

Great, Thanks. They seem to be as rare as the front spoiler itself.

Ray, 87 fenders.
Also, would you happen to have the braces for the frame-to-chin // fender for 87?
I'll MMS you a pic if that would clarify what I mean. Ours are somewhat bowed. Are they supposed to be?

Re: 91-92 camaro chin spoiler attachment question

I think I may have actually found mine! Can't tell, they look smaller than the pics but I don't have the car here to test. But they look really similar to what you found, and I have 4 of them. So the count is right!

I hope they are them!
