My painter and I are trying to get a stencil that looks EXACTLY like the factory door decal(except reverse so we can paint it on the door).

Anyone make these?

You can check with a local sign and graphics shop. Sometimes they have certain common decal templates that they can make. If not you can get a hold of a decal or trace once off an existing car. They can make a reverse decal where the IROC is cut out and the rest is decal. I've seen this done for painting and sandblasting too.

 

I hope some place has them, I have been wanting to do the same thing to mine for about 6 months now. Don't want to buy decals again because I dont want to risk them peeling off again.

 

Are you going to be able to paint them with the horizontal stripes. My IROC-Z decal is made from thin lines.If your doing the lines that's going to be awesome. Cant wait to see the end result.

 

Yes, I plan to do it EXACTLY like a factory decal, only reversed so we can paint it on. I asked him(the painter) about painting that section of the door, applying the decal, then painting the entire door. After that remove teh decal and clear the entire door. he stated that wouldn't work as well...

 

I'm also trying to get a template so I can make my decal IROC-Z sticker chrome. when I had my car painted the guy who was helping me decided he couldnt sleep one night and went into the garage and did some more prep work to the car.... sanded down my doors and removing the original IROC-Z decal in the process..... I really wanted to trace a template myself

 

ive gone to vinyl shops arround here and they wont do it...they said they are copyrited

this is what it looks like


take it to a sign shop and ask them to cut it in paint mask material which you can get. then instead of pealing the outside off leaving the letters peal the letters leaving the mask. i can do it if there is a big enough need i have a 24 inch cutter
