That's nothin. Throw some touch up paint on it and call it good.

Can't tell from the picture but if there is a dent you could throw a little bondo on it

I dont know about the flex agent but I'm thinking you can go to whomever painted your car and probably get a little touch up paint from them. Otherwise if you know the brand and the code of your paint you should be able to order a little bottle of touchup paint from them.

Re: how bad is this damage :[

yeah, single stage, no clear, maaco should be able to touch that up.

as for the dent in the urethane... it depends how deep it is. Take some better pics, like one that shows the depth. it may not be as bad as you think

Re: how bad is this damage :[

That's probably beyond what a simple touch up job could do, the bumper needs to be stripped and repainted.

If it gets touched up, it's probably not going to look much better.

Re: how bad is this damage :[

If the only damage is paint, then you can fix that with touch up. Here's what I've done. Fill in the damaged area only with the touch up. Try not to get any touch up on the surrounding painted areas. Allow the touch up to dry a few days, add a second coat. Allow that to dry a few days carefully wet sand the touch up areas. If you sand the other painted areas, you might break through to the urethane. Continue sanding until the touch up area is consistent with the rest and polish. You might need to start with a heavier grit sand paper and work your way up to 2000. Take your time and be patient and it will turn out very nice.

Re: how bad is this damage :[

two bits of good news here...

IT's not a clear coat job, which makes touchups a lot easier

it's a fresh paint job, which means the red hasn't started to fade yet. matching it shouldn't be a problem, but I wouldn't try it yourself. Just go back to maaco and ask them to touch up that one spot again. Heck, you could take off the bumper cover and take just that to them while you're getting the new engine hooked up. By the time you are done, your bumper cover will be ready

Re: how bad is this damage :[

I don't know what engine hoist you were using, but my cheapo would have had no problem with going the distance at its weakest setting (the hoist arm all the way out is about 500# load and our engines, the V6, are about 350#). I would have checked it first and then popped off the bumper cover just in case, especially because you just had the car painted. Hopefully it won't cost you much to have the spot redone, and now you'll know what not to do, right?

If the hoist is too short, remove the hood, and the front wheel either side, and come in from the side, it'll reach that way....

what about getting everything unbolted and rolling it outside in the drive way and then pulling it out?
