Plastic Under Fender Plastics

Hi,
Just a quick question. I accidentally drove through a huge pothole the other day and totally shattered this piece. It is the plastic piece underneath the fender. I have all the pieces, so I could try to put it back together if needed, but it would be so much easier if I could just buy a new one. So, first, does anybody know what its called, second does anybody have any idea where I can buy one? Picture attached shows what piece I need.

be ready to shell out quite a bit of cash, because they always break, and are very hard to find not broken

Lucky for you, Hawks just started making new ones a few months ago. Before that, these were out of production for years, and I don't have to tell you that good used ones are virtually impossible to find since everyone broke or tore theirs and never bothered to replace.

$150/side (plus paint), but at least you can get them now.

Ok, thanks guys. After 83 firechicken's suggestion, I emailed hawks about it, and they gave me the exact link that navy02 just gave me. I guess the only remaining thing to figure out is how to put it on

Should be a few screws in the wheelwell of the fender, then maybe a few bolts on the underside where it attaches to the bumper. Judging by what's left of the original part that's still attached to my car, I believe the long side of the piece attaches to the upper fender with double-sided tape.

Re: Plastic Under Fender Plastics

I've bought 2-3 good used ones now for a total of less than $50 (blasted screws keep backing out and they end up rubbing on the tires)... Can't imagine what they're thinking, $150 a piece for the things.

As for the install, there's 4 screws that attach to the wheel house and most of the rest is small push-pins similar to those seen on the bumper covers to bumper reinforcements but smaller. Put the screws in the wheel house before aligning the outer edge as this is easier than trying to get the tiny screws in after the outer edge is mounted.

Re: Plastic Under Fender Plastics

maverick, when the you put the screws did you ever try putting some thred locker or possably some kind of glue on the threads to keep them from backing out, i have seen people do that to body kit bumpers on there Hondas and that kind of thing to keep them from falling off, something to do with to much vibration causing them to back off and probably just cheep body kits lol

Re: Plastic Under Fender Plastics

It wasn't so much the screws as it was the screwed-up passenger's fender that wouldn't accept half of the push pins, so the outer wheelhouse panel (the plastic piece) was only supported by the screws. Pulled the front 2 screws out of their holes due to wind resistance and then the plastic would end up rubbing the tire (not to mention I don't have hardware to pin the plastic to the outer fender to bumper air deflector). I would think that if the fender was good and all of the pins went in like they're supposed to, this wouldn't happen.

Re: Plastic Under Fender Plastics

myfbird, I just put a set on another members car a little while back. There is double faced tape on the top edge of the piece. The bolts under it are in cage nuts. If they are bad just replace them. You'll definitely want to jack up the car.
