Re: Where to buy window guide rollers?

I just took my window out last night, the one you pictured there looks like the one at the rear side of the window. I have a second gen door I can look at but I wasnt really ready to take it apart. I would give it a shot.

Are they actually different across the GM lineup? That's an odd one.
I recently stumbled across this part for sale on an El Camino site, as it would work on my Monte Carlo. Perhaps they would also work on 3rd gens?

I would say they are the same, but he seems to want JUST the roller and not the stud. Those rollers are usually really cheap and if I were in the need I would give them a chance from another car model/lineup.

I think the roller just pops off the stud pretty easy too, could always try that

Re: Where to buy window guide rollers?

I pop all of them off. there on the regulators and windows theirs 4 per door.
I have piles of thirdgen books I.E factory service manuals , parts and illustration, factory explode sheets with part number/ name break downs but none of the 100+lbs pile of thirdgen books i own list a specific part number or name for that roller. Looks like i might have to do a lot of asking unless someone has already done the ground work ?

I know it sucks looking in there but have you gone through the group listings? I know there are some part numbers in there that are not in the illustrated portion of the part manual. I can do some looking when I get home too, I have the factory parts manual and I was thinking about getting new rollers too for my rebuild. I was just taking the door apart for easier moving, have 3 more to take apart they kind of suck sunce they are soooo damn heavy

Re: Where to buy window guide rollers?

I sold a bunch to Lon at Top Down Solutions a while ago. He should still have some available...
When I replaced mine, I had to lube it with lithium grease and use a c-clamp to press it on the stud. Worked like a charm and made a big difference to the window!

I just looked for over an hour in the parts and illustration and the factory build production manual i found nothing. Yea i don't know what the deal there just plastic rollers im sure other GM cars have them too so i would have thought they wouldn't be so hard to find...
i wouldn't even bother for that price, and you end up wrecking the roller 9 times out of 10 anyways

Re: Where to buy window guide rollers?

contacted a few places, they said they have been discontinued... hard to believe since these are the same ones for 2ndgens minus the stud. need to find the manufacturer
