Looks good to me. You'll get better as you go, and I'd say it came out real good for your first swing at it.
Re: First try at paint
For a first try, I'd say it looks pretty good based on what we can see. Would like to see more. One suggestion though, I think silver badges would look better than the teal ones.

I'm going to try and get her back together and outside. Then I'll use a proper camera and get a couple good pre wet sand pics. I think I'm going to let the paint alone for a few weeks before I sand and buff.

looks good... A bit of cut and buff and should be really nice. I love the 2 tone.. but then again i am slightly partial to that paint scheme.

Re: First try at paint
Looks like an outstanding job, especially for your first time! The only way to get good at something is to DO IT.
You're definitely more ambitious than me, as far as painting goes. I am afraid of messing up my first time, and I don't have the time to practice using cheap materials and stuff. Wish I did. It would be fun.
Definitely want to see some more pics when it's done.

Re: First try at paint
Looks to me you did a great job. I'll be painting mine this weekend and hope to get the same results. I took the doors and everything off of it to try to ensure that I get paint in all the areas the factory paint has been coming off.
Re: First try at paint
The color was called bright teal metallic, I did have all the gfx off but I did leave the fenders and doors on. Also the front end with the two tone I thought it would have been a pita to try and realign all the paint lines. And the silver stripe is painted. The gun was from tcp global and it worked really well, it came in a kit called a g7000 I believe the compressor is an old speed air setup I don't know exactly what size it is but it kept up just fine. I think I got everything answered there lol. And thanks I was thinking about 3 weeks for a wash.

Looks Awesome!! Just some advice, hit it all with some wet 1200-2000 and then buff it out using some foam pads, the DA and Meguires #105 and then #205. Yields amazing results everytime, gets rid of that funky orange peel.
Re: First try at paint
I worked in a GM body shop for several years, and still do body and paint work on the side. we would wash cars just a day or two after painting them. I still wash cars within the next couple days after paint. just use dawn dish detergent for suds and chamois it off when your done. never had a problem. just don't use wax or anything
