Got ran off the interstate. What am i looking at?

Some idiot (in a black 2010 ss btw) merged into my lane without looking and ran me into the median...stopped about 4ft short of a street light. Is this worth getting fixed or would i be better off just selling and buying another car? Is the damage really that bad? I planned on buying new doors anyway so all im really worried about is the quarter panel. What do u guys think?

Without knowing the condition of the rest of the car, Its difficult to answer. What Isee though isn't that bad. I don't understand why it wouldn't be fixable.....

Re: Got ran off the interstate. What am i looking at?

The rest of the cars ok...only other damage is the fender i dented and a hood that flipped backwards but i have what i need to replace that. I really want to know if its fixable without having to cut/replace the quarter panel. that would probably be a little out of my budget

That is way fixable. And if just a quarter panel is out of your budget, then a complete new car is even further out of your budget. A simple quarter repair is zero reason to replace an entire car.

New quarter and door skin as well as door ding mouldings. The quarter ground effect peice may or may not be repairable.

Sorry that happened to you, bad drivers I guess it would depend on the cost to fix it, and how much money you have in the car. Did you make a claim? I really like those rims, they are sweet Wish you luck on your decision

THanks...i planned on adding 91-92 gfx also so im not really worried bout that rear gfx piece. Im just hoping i can get that quarter fixed for a reasonable price. Body shops here charge and arm and leg.

Re: Got ran off the interstate. What am i looking at?

Things like this **** me off. We have to pay for insurance even though it doesnt cover anything at all and some jerk who is running around uninsured isnt automatically made to pay up for damage. The overall cost involved in the legal side of it ends up costing WAY more than the repair work needed.

even if insurance did pay they are not paying for damage that cost more to fix then the car is worth to them.Sometimes we just have to bend over and take it,ya know.and even if you got a judgement, the guy was driving without insurance so he's not paying the judgement.

Well, he may not have insurance to pay for it but he can be sued for it. I see your point though, thats another problem with the system.

Re: Got ran off the interstate. What am i looking at?

Im sorry but he has a 2010 SS Camaro and has no insurance???? I dont buy it! He has a loan on that car and they would REQUIRE full coverage insurance. Im guessing he doesnt want to make a claim and probably doesnt feel like he caused the accident. I would sue him in small claims court (it will cost you about $50). Ill bet if he's sued he will just give you his insurance info OR he will offer to pay for the damage. He has good credit or he couldnt have gotten his $50,000 loan. He wont want a judgement on his credit report. DONT LET THIS SLIDE! Push him and get your car fixed!

Re: Got ran off the interstate. What am i looking at?

Im assuming the cops were called so as far as not having it reported is out of the question and he clearly didnt offer to just pay for it (or im guessing the thread wouldnt exist or itd be a lot different than this). Also, just because he has a nice new car doesnt mean he has a loan or anything. I know a number of people who have bought brand new cars in full up front. Lastly if he was making payments of some sort to pay for the car and insurance was required, that doesnt mean he was doing what he was supposed to. I agree though, take care of the legal mumbo jumbo right away or you may not get anything. You should get money through insurance or court.

IF someone has the $$ to buy a $50,000 car in cash then I can guarantee you that they have the money to pay for the repairs on this 3rd gen. Something just doesnt sound right here....

Just because they can doesnt mean they want to or will. A lot of people on this planet just suck, its that simple.

Re: Got ran off the interstate. What am i looking at?

I don't have collision on my car, but I do have comprehensive and uninsured motorists coverage. It's not that expensive at all, and it prevents problems like this

and I agree with the other posters here... there's something here that isn't adding up.

Thats why you go to court! Its called a judgement and garnishment of his wages and/or bank account. If he's a homeowner its also called lien on property. Trust me, if he has the money he will step up and pay for the repairs.
