Center spoiler/wing doesnt line up

Hi guys, My problem now is that i took off the ugly *** spoiler i got that came with the car. BTW the guy drilled huge holes to install the ugly spoiler. ANYWAYS i went to a junk yard and purchased the spoiler for 10.55 and installed it onto my car. Now the problem is then center piece sticks out a little further than the rest. I did a brief inspection as to why and it looks like maybe my hatch is to far forward but thats just a guess. But theres about a half inch from the roof to the hatch. I WILL HAVE PICTURES TOMORROW.

Just by memory alone until tomorrow. The center wing sticks out 1/4 inch from the other two.

The top of the glass to the the body has about a 1/2 - 3/4 inch gap.

Anyone have this problem, ive looked at other posts and people say there glass sits wrong or misaligned. However my glass is fine and sits good left and right. my only problem is the hatch may (IDK) sit to far back.

There is some adjustment in the bolts that mount the hatch to the body. The bigger problem is that over time the hatch hinges will bend and you may not be able to take up the slack with the available adjustment.

Re: Center spoiler/wing doesnt line up

I've NEVER seen a thirdgen where the spoiler was perfectly aligned. Im sure it's been done, but it's fairly rare to have it exactly right without having to go tweak things yourself.

I personally have never been bothered about mine since I realized that pretty much all of these cars have a spoiler misalignment. Maybe get a Z28 high rise spoiler?

Re: Center spoiler/wing doesnt line up

That's too much gap up top. Try to align it by loosening the body bolts. You'll have to disconnect the struts because they will try to push it back.

That'll explain the process but I'd use urethane instead of silicone.

Re: Center spoiler/wing doesnt line up

There are 2 different types of wing spoilers. The non 3rd brake light setup and the 3rd brake light setup. The center piece that holds the light will be longer than the non 3rd brake light setup. Looks like you have a mismatched set of side pieces and center.

The tech article doesn't go into the upper hatch alignment OR the possible bent hinges. All caused by the force of the struts on the hatch over time. Once you get your gap right up top, then you can get into removing the deck lid, if needed.

I will look into the side wings or just a whole setup from the junk yard since its only 11 bucks for the set.
