Starting tomorrow! Any suggestions??
I'm starting on the body work and paint prep tomorrow for the IROC. There are a few bad spots that are visible around the rear quarters. Are there any places that I need to take a 2nd look at on these cars??? This is my 1st 3rd gen purdy up so any help would be good. I'll post up progress pics through out the week. Should be driving it by next Sat!!
Paint will be Cyber Grey Metallic (new Vettes and Gen 5 Camaro color)

Re: Starting tomorrow! Any suggestions??
I took my 91 RS apart to find rust and you'll be surprised at what you find if you do. If you plan on keeping her then I suggest removing all the body parts you can and fixing any rust spots....especially in the cowl/cowl drain area, bottom fender where it bolts to the body behind the tire, inside the hatch/quarter panel, strut towers and floor pan. If you see rust on the outside quarter panel area it's probably the tip of the iceburg.....dig dig dig and do some searches on this site...lots of rust areas on these machines. If you're just going for a spray and pray then good luck!

Re: Starting tomorrow! Any suggestions??
I can't post pics from my phone so I'll upload them Friday or sat. Got all of the body work and most of the taping finished. Putting new door hinges on tomorrow morning and prime n paint around 2/3. Cyber grey metallic is the color and I MIGHT do the ground effects a shade of silver metallic but not 100% sure yet... Guess I'll make that decision when it comes time to shoot the car... The best part about this job is its FREE... Parts, paint, labor... Lovin my girls step dad! He's the **** lol

1st and 2nd pic: had to fix a small crack in the front ground effects w/ metal glaze... that should never break lol
3rd pic: Had some rust in the TTop pillars so we had to get rid of it... Not exactly sure what he put on it, but its some of the best stuff i've seen for filling small holes. Absolutely no leaks, what so ever!

Re: Starting tomorrow! Any suggestions??
For the hinge repair: remove the door and air hammer the rivets for the TOP hinge off, leave the part of the hinge that attaches to the door on.
You can see the size pipe we used in the pics. Get it about 6-8 inches and cut it down to about 1/8 inch from the outside edge on both sizes so the bushings will fit correctly.
Weld it into place and buy a GM door hinge repair kit and also buy the assorted pack of bushings, trust me you'll need them. You'll have to get a 3/8 drill bit to shave some metal out of the door side bracket.
The door pin will have to be longer than the Camaro kit so just measure the length and get the right one. put it all together and bolt the door back on and you'll have a door hinge that is 100% rebuildable... Have fun!

That cyber grey metallic is beautiful. When I get around to painting mine, it's one of my top 3 choices. Dark Red, Cyber Grey, or Black.. On the repair for the spoiler, I was under the impression we had to use a flex agent or it would the repair of any kind would crack.. what do you think..?.. Stone

Re: Starting tomorrow! Any suggestions??
So far so good... This stuff is literally like steel so I'm hoping I wont have any issues with it... If I do, I'll just replace it and do a repaint.... BTW, the paint I went with is about 700 per gallon, so be prepared to come out of pocket lol

Re: Starting tomorrow! Any suggestions??
in the sunlight, you will fall in love with the color. It has just enough metallic to catch your eye but no so much that it looks like a "Pimp my ride" car. I'm going with all black extras... I'm still in the air on the rims, any suggestions? I'm really liking the y2k vette wheels...
