T Top leaking and dont know why....

I cant tell where my ttops are leaking from. I had the rust in the center pillar fixed and it seems to be leaking worse.

Its leaking from the shade mounting points and It pools so when I stop, it pours out of the holes. Can anyone tell me how the TTop weatherstripping or the metal around it would make this happen? BTW, all of the weatherstripping is in good condition and is secured to the car well...

I had that too. There's a leak between the metal portion and the glass causing water to pool in the lock mechanism housing. I just sealed the metal portion to the glass with black RTV and trimmed the exess with a razor blade.

How did you have the rust repaired? Did you remove the T top bar to do it? Did you remove the weatherstripping?

No, my father in law (soon to be anyway) used some type of badass compound... Kinda like a caulking but not really... I can find out what it is tomorrow and post it up.

lb9 GTA: can you take a pic of what your talking about please... I cant see anywhere that it would be leaking...

New GM seals come with instructions on where to seal and what to use.
I think the service manual also has them..

Re: T Top leaking and dont know why....

My car is stored for winter so I can't take any pics at the moment. What I'm talking about is the t-top panle itself. The metal portion is supposed to seal to the glass but over time the stuff used to seal dries out, cracks and then leaks. It leaks right into the area with the locking mechanism and pools in the plastic trim peace on the t-top. As I said, I had the same problem. I checked the existing rubber seal and it was fine, procces of elimination lead me to what I've mentioned. So I grabbed some black RTV and squeezed it into the thin open space beween. No leaks since. I've spoken to a few people (in person) about this same problem and non of them thought to seal the t-top panle itself. They always blamed the seals. Even if they were new.
