Re: whats this under the windshield?

Windshield? Is that the back end of the door? Or am I looking at something else?

Any way, if it is the front windshield then it could be rust causing a problem. If rear hatch then I would say the black sun screen applique is coming unglued.

It looks like the door is open, but at first glance it looks like the door.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

That's a very poor picture but if that is a front windshield that looks like very bad de lamination of the plastic between the glass, time for a new windshield.

Maybe I'm being a little dense here but what exactly are we looking at? That doe's look like the back of an open door to the right of the glass.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

That is a t-top on the driver's side and the door is open, and that is a picture of the driver's side top of the windshield. It is most likely flawed and delaminating, and will need to be replaced at some point.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

The guy said it is. To me it looks like we're looking at the back of a door? Not to mention it does look to me as if there are defrost lines.

Either, way this is still messing with my head.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

It's not the back of the door, its the circulation vent above the latch striker ...though now that you mention it, it does look like a door lol

But on topic, I'd bet that it was delaminating, maybe there's rust or a burr on the metal there that damaged the glass and let water between the layers.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

I was going to say, yes the angle of the photo fooled me too but I knew I couldn't have possibly been looking at the door because NO thirdgen had the airflow vents in the doors. With this being fact I simply stared at it until I caught on.

You guys on the other hand, get a BIG FAT "F" in thirdgen history 101

Thirdgen history, I would fail considering the last one rolled off the lot before I was born.

Seriously? I was born in 87 if you want to go there. 4th gens were the thing around "my time".

I don't understand how anyone who owns a thirdgen could neglect to notice the circulation vent is in the door jamb and not the door. It's there every time you go to get in your car.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

I still say the picture is from the rear of the car and not from the front, aka the windshield. Until I see a better picture or at least one that we can definitely say is a true 3rd gen, then I'll hold off commenting more.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

i dont see whats so hard to grasp here, thats a pic of the windsheild, driverside top corner. the door i open, you can see the vent in the door jam as well as the striker. the car has t-tops. through the windsheild you can see the drivers seat......

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's an optical illusion by the angle of the camera. It's pretty easy to tell the door is just open and you're looking at the jamb. Look at the T-Top and how it drops off down to the quarter. You can even see the interior plastic on the quarter panel.

You do own a thirdgen, right?

Re: whats this under the windshield?

After looking at this picture for about 15 minutes I finally see how it is right. Thank god...that was bothering me so much, lol

It's definitely from the front of the car.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

windshield consists of several layers, pressed to each other (triplex).
in author's case layers begin to separate.

Re: whats this under the windshield?

Whats so hard to see here, its the top of the piler and yes the door is open, either way why argue he told you what it is. The glass is going bad, did you have a chip? either way your insurance company should pay for replacement

the glass isnt chipped and its not the glass itself, its under it.... i think they took off the windshield and didnt put it on right but as i also said, this isnt the only spot, it is in multiple places, this is just the worse spot
