1982 Z28 rear bumper cover emblem
As many of you know the 1982 Z28 Rear bumpercover emblem was just about the same as the rest of the generation but it didn't have the bowtie on it. They don't make reproductions of the 1982 Z28 rear bumpercover's emblem, so I was wondering could I just cut the bowtie off of a reproduction 1983-92 emblem to make it look correct? Has anyone done this before? If any one has I would love to see pictures and know how you did it exactly.

Actually the font style is kind of different between 82-83. I'm sure Hawk's or someone sells a reproduction sticker and I know for a fact that they have NOS ones on feebay. IMHO, if you're not hellbent on total period accuracy, I'd get whatever z28 one you could and cut the bowtie off. But personally, I'd just leave it with the bowtie, nobody's going to care or notice.

The font on the 82 looks like the italicized z28 logo that's on the later model center caps.

This badge is correct for the 82 isn't it? http://thirdgenranch.com/-strse-1116/82-dsh-85-Z28-front-bumper/Detail.bok

I thought you were talking about the bumper emblem on the rear, hence your title

He wasn't referring to the "front", he was referring to the "font." The style of the letters.

haha no big deal dude. They're almost indistinguishable, however I know for a fact they are different. If you were going to restore the car, I think the phoenix graphix has a kit that has the decal.

Yeah I checked that out they have a pretty good deal on the decal. I wish some one had the emblem though or could restore my old faded one.

hmm I haven't actually seen the OE ones, I was mostly talking about the reproduction ones I've seen. A guy I know has an indy pace car that is slightly different font than my z28

wait, are you talking about the front emblem or the header emblem? And ya, I'd just cut the bowtie off if you really need it to look original

Re: 1982 Z28 rear bumper cover emblem
I know this is kind of an old thread but I'm going to throw my two cents in the 82 z28 badge is fitted in to a grove on mine and at a sligh tilt were the rest seem straight up and down and just stick on. I've been look for a spare rear badge and every one sells "82-92" badges they are not interchangeable just because it will fit doesn't mean you should do it! Like the idiot that took the SMC functioning hood off my 82 and put an iroc hood on it!!

Re: 1982 Z28 rear bumper cover emblem
Should have kept the SMC functioning hood. I actually bought a "1982-92" badges and the only difference between the 1982 rear emblem and the 1983-92 emblems is the bowtie which I plan on just cutting off. I should be painting my Camaro next week, so I'll do the emblems too and I'll update you on how it gos and I'll post some pictures.
