Re: windshield wiper blade removal

if yours are the original style pin setup (and not the universal replacement style clips), there should be a little metal spring in the center. use a small pick or flathead screwdriver to slide spring while pushing the wiper away from the arm

Different wiper blades lock the pin style differently. Some you can just pry off, others have a spring clip that you need to pull up to clear the edge of the retainer.

Or start here @ 2:10 below.
@0:35 sec they show it being pried off. I guess you have to click the link below and then click on the box that says "pin arms" at the bottom in order to see the video.

Re: windshield wiper blade removal

I had the same problem when I tried to replace the wiper blade and assembly.

I bought refills instead. It is a lot cheaper.

Replacing entire assembly and blades is about $25.
Replacing just the rubber wiper blades is about $5.

Re: windshield wiper blade removal

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to post some info in case someone is searching for this topic. I had the original wiper blades on my 83 camaro (side pin type) and found that the key to getting them off was to spray the pin area with some WD-40 and then wrap some tape around a wide flat screwdriver blade. A quick twist with the screwdriver between the blade and the head of the wiper arm and they popped right off.

Re: windshield wiper blade removal

I had a hard time finding universals at the parts store that mounted right!

Wanted some fancy new style ones (like these: link) but couldn't get them on there!

I mounted some similar Bosch blades recently. They mount OK, but I don't like the look of them. The OE style blades were OK, so when these wear out, I'm going to see if I can find some new inserts and go back to the original design.

Re: windshield wiper blade removal

Some of the older wiper frames had a LITTLE tiny square recessed tab on the top instead of the plastic snap. You use a small screw driver to pry the tab up to lift the clip off the pin and slide it off.
