Window stuck down, and ITS COLD!!!

Hey, I gotta nasty problem...

My window is stuck down about 6 inches or so. It used to be that it only went down 6 inches, but today it is stuck down. When I use the window switch, the motor just "barks" at me. I tried pushing the window up while pressing the switch, but that doesn't work either. Will this be $$$ to fix?

Probably not... Pull the door panel and see what you find. At worst its probably just a bad or failing motor. A new motor is only $20-25.

But aren't at that price they remanufactured?I have seen new ones for $80. I have also heard that it is a two person job, mostly to keep the window from breaking. I am looking into it because mine is going out too.

The remanufactured ones run about $25-$35. New ones run around $75-$80. One person can do the job. Just cut a board to put inside the door to hold the window up, while you change out the window motor.

Having just put a DS window motor in mine, i can say that at least in my case, i could have done it alone. I had my dad holding my window up, but about halfway through mutilating the last rivet holding motor to regulator he got sick of holding it and realized it wasn't going anywhere.
Here's a tip. It's a cake job to do if you hack all the sheetmetal in front of the motor out of the way. y car was a one owner car, and i got most of the receipts for warranty work over the years. The DS motor had been replaced before under warranty. When i got the doorpanel off, to my surprise, the monkeys that did the last RR had snipped all the sheetmetal out of the way. God bless 'em. If only there rivet gun didn't suck.
