what years did the door get cup holders? I think it was only the 91 92 firebirds.? also was this assy actually a cup holder or a map holder with a cup like area at the front.? How well does it hold a drink?? Pics of these installed would be greatly appreciated, as i am considering getting a pair for my car. thnx again THE SHAGGY IROC

Seriously.. Why would you want them.. Just out of curiosity... If it were me I'd definately want my car original as much as possible. (which leaves a perfect interior) the only thing I'm going to change is the engine.. any way.. It definately wasn't the 91-92 camaro.. I wonder what goes on in the ways of the tranny

They came in 90-92 Firebirds only. They are kinda cheesy plastic things, not worth it.

As for why, well, some people do like cup holders and don't give a rats *** about originality. I sure as heck don't care what came stock with the car and never will... just my .02

They're on the 90-92 firebirds, that parts correct. They're very heavy duty plastic with heavy bolts that mount securely to the door not really cheesy at all. They'll hold up to a 44oz drink with no problems whatsoever... the only real problem with them is that they tend to get scuffed when getting in and out of the car since they stick out a bit.

nothing at all wrong with the cupholders.. they are hardly cheesy. They are found in all 90-92 Firebirds with power windows. Unless you are careless and blind, you won't scuff them, let alone break them.

I don't know why you are having such bad luck with your cupholder/map pockets. I have gotten a couple of scuffs on mine, but I think it can be cleaned up with a little effort. Good news for those of you Camaro or Firebird owners that want to add them. The mounting holes (actually they are square) are already in the inner door panel. You just need to buy the white plastic inserts that push into those holes at the "Help" section of Auto Parts store, or use a J-clip like I did. $25 is pretty cheap. I paid nearly $45 at my local Dealer each. I love them.

There are 3 screws. Sorry I don't know the correct size. I mounted mine using J-clips rather than the off-white plastic inserts. I just want to remind everyone there is a plastic plug that needs to be ordered as well. It snaps in place and covers the upper screw. Good luck, Lon,
