Dash Pad Ideas

Has anyone "repaired" their cracked dash pads? I want to do something with mine, but don't want to spend the $500 for the replacement. Any ideas? Possibly Fiberglass? After reading the tech article on cup holders, I thought maybe the spray-on truck bedliner might be a good way to cover it up.

There are vinyl repair kits. Designed more for seat repair. But it could be used to fill it in, then texture to match. But then do something that should have been done from the start. COVER IT. A dash cover costs a lot less than a dash. I just replaced my first dash cover which deteriorated from the UV. But my dash itself is still like new and will remain so, now that I have a new cover installed. Good luck, Lon.

get the vinyl repair kit and give it a go. Matching the texture is next to impossible and not worth the effort. Just patch the crack and don't point it out to anybody and they'll never notice as long as its the right color.

Actually, matching the texture is not quite THAT hard. It's challenging, but can be done. At least the kit I have, it uses some stuff that you put on a clean spot of the dash, and it takes a mold of the grain, then you put it over your repair while it's fresh and it shapes the repair's grain the same way.

It's from V.I.P. (Vinyl Industrial Products), but I couldn't tell you where to get it. I got it from some guy who was moving and didn't need it anymore. It's a massive kit the size of a briefcase, I believe for people who do it professionally.

Don't know if they're still around or not.

I just about cried yesterday when I cracked my 91z's original dash with my uncoordinated body while getting in.

Thanks for the suggestions! The cracks on my dash are pretty extensive (from the previous owner). I ended up getting one this weekend from thirdgenparts. Thanks again, though!
