T-Top Shaft Play

I had my t tops out the other day to clean them and realized there is play in the shafts. They used to leak pretty badly, but i adjusted them and they dont leak nearly as much, but still do a little, mostly on the passengers side which is where the t-top has play.

The drivers side is held down very firmly and snug, but the passengers side is loose, i can lift it up a little less than 1/4in even while its "locked" down into the car. Im almost positive this is why its still leaking, and it rattles when hit a bump so id like to fix it for that reason as well.

Has anyone ever seen/heard of this? How do you fix it?

Re: T-Top Shaft Play

Where the lock shafts go into the body there's a housing there with 2 screws on it. I think that's adjustable.

Re: T-Top Shaft Play

Its within the T-top itself. I could lift the t-top up about 1/4 inch with it locked onto the car of course.. when the window gets rolled up all the way it pushed the t-top up and leaked a little bit..... adjusting that bracket would suck it down but, idk thats just a bandaid fix...

Re: T-Top Shaft Play

Yea, the t-top still is movable when its locked in. Im not sure if the window pushes it up any, but i do know that it leaks from that side, and that the shafts move around when they shouldnt be able to. I adjusted it but it still leaks.

Re: T-Top Shaft Play

I'll go out and take the cover off mine and, see if i cant find whats causing the issue. but I did find these... looks like they could use a cleaning, or swap the Mechanical part.. pretty cheap tho... http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/pts/3135917239.html

Re: T-Top Shaft Play

Aren't the pins at both ends of the t-top in sliders? And those sliders should have almost no play in them at all?

Re: T-Top Shaft Play

Yea, thats exactly what it is... I honestly thought there was more support for the shafts, HA what you see at the end of the T-top is what you got..... and that support Is glued to the glass.. that plastic guide might be replaceable but i wouldnt hold my breath, i'd be getting that set of tops if i were you...

Heck i got a set of the Hook style T-tops with the hook receivers.... I wonder why the only set of those ive seen are the ones i have. hmmm
