Dash Lighting?

I know its a little *****, but I want to change my interior dash lights to blue. I know they are 194's but I found some in blue and the guy at autozone said they blow out in about a month. Anyone changed colors and had problems with the lights blowing?

I just changed mine to red and got them from another chain store here in Md., so really can't say how long they'll last. I hope I don't have to change them any time soon. Anyways, I don't know about yours, but mine are a one-piece bulb/socket combo. However, I got the bulbs ($3.99/2) and then was able to get (at Auto Zone) the separate sockets. I don't have the part number with me, but it's the 1/2" black ones (you'll need 4). If you go that route, you might end up having to change them in a month, again, I don't know. But, if that happens, there is another place you can get them from - MacEwen. They'll run ya about $6.99/2+shipping, etc. Those are the xenon bulbs, though - brighter and probably last longer... Hope this helps ya...

I changed my camaro dash lights to red. I changed them back to white, cuz they looked like crap and weren't very bright.

Looking at my pontiac i thought i could pull it off but colored bulbs look awful; the pontiac has a red film in it that makes it look right. Just my .02

I just changed the lighting in my firebird.
I bought the MacEwen white face gauge overlays. I was going to get colored red bulbs, but they are expensive to buy 9 bulbs.
The firebird uses regular bulbs with orange colored caps on them. I switched to clear ones. Then I took some red film and put it in behind the gauge overlays. Came out pretty cool. Now in daylight the gauges are white with dark lettering/numbers that havea hint of red if the light catches them just right. But at night, the gauges are dark and the lettering/numbers glow red.

I changed my dash lights to blue this summer. My local speed shop had Light "booties" they just slip on the bulb takes about a half n hour to do all the lights dash, AC controls, and shifter, I also put in blue Neons under the dash, they help to and put a PHAT gLow at night!
