weatherstripping installation advice??

weatherstripping installation advice??

putting in new weatherstriiping around my t-tops for my 89 firebird, also putting in new t-top seals and outer drip edges.

anyone have any tips on the best way to put all this stuff in and have the car 99% - 100% waterproof??

I like the way he did the seals, only I used strip caulk on the ends to fill the voids instead of the weatherstrip adhesive.

I used plenty of glue and I made sure the t top bar had enough strip caulk under it. I haven't given it the hose test yet, but I think mine should be sealed good.

BTW - don't use OER. I haven't heard anything good about them. I used Soffseal. Metro seems to be similar. Both of those are a bit thicker then the original GM. which is good and bad. I feel my original weatherstrip leaked because there wasn't enough material around the edges where the t tops sit and water was able to go past that seal. The Soffseal are much thicker at that point and seem to seal better. The downside is that everything fits a bit tighter. If this bothers you, go for the original weatherstrip. It doesn't bother me so I am happy with them.

thanks! i put in new t-top seals, i only got a tiny bit of water in the front of the headliner and had a few drops drip down on the center console.

i dont use gm or oer, i got metro seals or something like that. its supposed to be better and it is alot thicker. i got my whole t-top weatherstripping for $180 out in a car show in englishtown NJ.
