Dash repair? *kinda long*

Hello...I just got a 89 firebird formula...its in nice shape and all..but its got a crack in the dash...(its covered by a little mat like thing right now)...i was wondering if any of you knew how i could repair this crack...ex like leveling it out and using super glue to put it together..then sanding it down to a nice finish and painting it the grey (its a light grey inside) color...i thought about replacing it...but im a student and my job only pays minimum wage so its kinda out of my price range for a few years (till i pay the car off) thanks for any help...if you want photos i can supply them
Tom

hey search some junk yards to find a new one. i know of one at the local junk yard here and they were asking $50.00 for it. and it was out of a 1985 TA. and in mint condition.
if you want email me at JayC003@hotmail.com
and i could get it for you.. if you want me to ship it to you. and you pay me before i ship it and get it. .

Might be a good idea to do a search on www.car-part.com for the dash. You can get really good prices on there.

Thanks for the help guys.
after reading about the junk yards having them for so cheap i went searching...i found one out of a 88formula that was the same color and in perfect shape...(to bad the rest of the car was trashed from being rolled) i only had to pay 40$ for it.

I used the "Professional" Dash Repair Kit by Permatex. It comes with tubes of all colors of repair gunk, some dash grain "patterns", and an electric heat gun. (The non-professional one has a heat pad that you heat up using an electric clothes iron.) You mix up the repair gunk, and spread it into the crack. Then, you take one of the patterns and lay it over the gunk. These patterns put the pattern into the vinyl repair gunk. Then you take the heat iron and put that on top of the pattern.

It fixed my cracks perfectly... not too bad for $12. But of course, nothing beats the original pad!
