Keyless Entry???

I was thinking about buying one of those keyless entry systems for my 92 firebird. Does anyone know if it will be difficult??

You can buy a kit through Summit for like 90 bucks that gives you power locks, but yes, you have to have it for keyless entry, if by that you mean what we're callin keyless entry. You could just always leave your doors unlocked.

Car: 1986 Pontiac Trans Am
Engine: 5.0 TPI

Out here in PA, at AMES, i saw a keyless entry for any car with power locks for 40 bucks. Its NOT an alarm...just keyless entry to unlock your doors and trunk...i will soon get that for my TA...as a temporary entry system before i go apes**t in mods :-P

if u have any electrical install knowledge it's fairly simple; a single relay attached to POWER locks, in turn the relay is attached to a sending unit that either has a small antenna wire or is hooked up to the cars existing antenna. i would highly recommend this simply to make it easier on yourself and to keep scratches off the door.

most places will install it for around $100 or so. but if u or someone u know can install it look around half that amount.

How about without power locks? What would a place charge to install power locks and keyless entry? While I'm at it, should I just add power windows too?

I believe power windows are a lil harder....could be wrong though. Take a look at that Summit kit, I believe it adds both, and includes everything.
