steering wheel....pics inside

All right guys, my steering wheel on my 92 bird is coming apart on the right hand corner. Can this be fixed or do I need to buy a new wheel? Also, how much does one of those go for? Here's the link

That looks more like your airbag coming apart - not the wheel... If you "shop around" you can probably come up with one here on the board. Good luck...

I think they all are doing that. Mine is doing the same thing. When I took the air bag off I tried to pull it back over but the rubber just popped right off with a few minutes of driving. There must be a way to heat it up gently (air bag remember) and pull it back into position. Anybody done this?

my camaro is doing the same thing, it must be something to do with the air bag, i am wondering if you could just pull it up, and put a small dot of superglue on it, to hold it up, the souldn't cause any problems with the air bag deploing i would think..

just a though though.

Mine looks the exact same way (92RS). I just never made a big deal about it. However, if I recall I read a car review before buying my car, and I was under the understanding that our cars did not come with air bag. That it was until the 93 that came with single air bag, and 94 and up with dual airbag. I mean I know it looks like it has one but does it? I never knew, guess I'll have to get it checked now cuase i don't think it's good for the system (migt fail you know).

Yes, it does have an airbag. I believe in 90 or 91 they started getting them, whatever year the steering wheels started looking big and fat (like that).

yes they do have airbags,

on my 90 RS, there was a warning on it when i bough the car, (on the driverside sun visor) warning about the dangers of the airbag opening, and some saftey percosions to take.

I am sure someone still has there saftey warning on, and could post a pic?

I have the same problem with my formula, Im just gonna get a Grant wheel for it and thats it, I saw the challenger series wheels( which look a bit like ours and have an available pontiac logo insert for the horn button ) for like 60 something, plus 30 something for the installation kit. I've seen used firebird steering wheels for 60 bucks, so im going with Grant.
