85 T/A Seatbelts

I own an 85 Transam. The 85's have a factory recall on the seat belts as they sometimes do not retrack after they are fully extended. My driver's side belt has this problem. The dealership ordered a replacement seatbelt for me, however, the only color available now is gray and my interior is black. Does anyone know where I can locate a new black seatbelt for this car? As a last resort, I have a junkyard seatbelt, however, I am concerned I may run into the same problem if I install this belt. Any suggestions would be appreciated

what color gray? When I had my IROC recall done, they gave me 3 gray and 1 black because there were no more gray driver side buckles. I'd HAPPILY trade you if you have the light gray color.

Hi CHK, the buckle covers pop off and can be changed over. Black is easy. You can get them dyed or have your original belts re-wound into the new mechanism.
Good luck

Jim85IROC - I believe the color I have is the light gray. I wasn't aware there were other tones of gray. How will I know it's the right color? I will gladly swap with you if it's the color you're looking for! That is the best news I have heard in a LONG time Please let me know how to determine if it's the right color.

Is it the front belts or the back ones? My back passenger side belt won't work. It is light gray also. Is this covered under the recall? What do I need to do to get it fixed if it is?

Unfortunately, I don't think the back belts are covered under this recall notice. I will forward you a copy of the recall notice via email. It will be from MsHilara@aol.com. Good Luck
