Question on hatch assy.

My 85 firebird SE has a hatch release button, does it mean I have a remote pull down assy?? If so I guess its busted.

May just be loose or corroded connections. If you get in there and clean it up, you will probably see what the problem is.

Well the hatch is released when I push the button but I thought that the pull down assy. is supposed to pull the lid down instead of me having to slam it shut.

it is possible to have a hatch release, and not the pulldown assembly...

If it has the pull down assy, there will be contacts on the hatch that activate the motor to pull it down. If there aren't any contact points, then it's just a release switch and slam hatch assy.

Mr Moyer, You are mistaken.
The contacts are for the brake light within the hatch/wing on the rear.

FYIW I don't think the power pull down was available in 85.

I don't think it was either. My friend has 2 '85 TA's, and I have an '85 IROC and none of them have it, and my IROC was loaded.

With our cars, who knows whats been put in them? The quickest and most reliable way is to just pull the plastic cover and see for yourself.
