How do I make door panels like this?

How would I make door panels similar to this? I am pretty sure he probably
just cut some type of foam to get the shapes he wanted but how did he get
the fabric to stick like that? How would I do it if I wanted to use black
vinyl? Anyone here know anything about custom interior like this?

I saw a guy do it once before on the back of his Speacker cover. You take cardboard, and cut it out in the shape you want. Then glue those piece or fasten them some how to the piece of card board that will fit in the inside of the door(just use the one you have as a template) then use a spray adhesive and spray the thing and start laying the fabric down, Make sure you get the fabric up tight to the shape of the card board, and make sure there is no bubbles. You might have to put two cut out patterns on top of each other. Depends though.

I had an article from Hot Rod on doing it somewhere. The gist of it is:
1) Good backing board. Use your current one as a template.
2) Glue 1/4" to 1/2" foam to the board using a spray contact adhesive.
3) Draw your pattern on another piece of foam and cut it out.
4) Glue it to the foam on your board.
5) Spray adhesive over the backing and on your material and put the material on. (This is the hard part) spread the material over the surface and into the reliefs of the backing. Work out the wrinkles.
6) Fold the material over the edge and glue/trim to the back.

That's it in a nutshell, but I'd look into instructions with a bit more detail.

damn, is the first time you people have seen stuff like that? the truckin community's been doin it for YEARS
anyway, they coolest ones ive seen were done so that the 3D flames were made out of plastic and covered in leather, and the panels were tweed (of course) with regular foam flames and shapes behind and overlapping the leather one
Ill get a pic tommorrow of it and post, it puts that camaro's panels to shame

Hey guys since reading this post a few days ago i started on my own panels. I found some good material and so far so good. What i was wondering was where could i find the tweed or headliner material for the final step. I want it to match well with my interior. Any help would be great. Drew

Take a look at some LOWRIDER magazines,I have one that shows you how to make 3D seats [No,it doesn't sound gay,it's like having some parts of a seat lifted up]

Chaotic Firehawk can be found wondering NEThirdgen.org and 3rdgen.org

"A musclecar, by definition, is a powerful and sporty vehicle that must be able to spin its tires at will. The Firebird Trans Am is capable of laying down twin black streaks of rubber several hundred feet long. We wanted to be sure it could, so we did it a half dozen times in the name of automotive science."-MotorTrend

Damn, that's hot stuff. My friend just told me about something like that done to a custom subwoofer box... the installer made foam letters that said "Dodge", and covered it in vinyl so the "Dodge" poked through.

I like the flames better, though... wow.

How hard is it to change the gear selector?
Mine is looking worn and a crome one would look nice. Has anyone done that?

That's part of the B&M Megashifter... altho the plate for the 82-92 f-body Megashifter is painted "wrinkle black". He probably sanded it down, polished it, and clear-coated it. http://www.bmracing.com
