i dont believe you can because of the chasis be a ground for the electrical system, but im not sure. maybe(ghetto version) if you put duct tape on the frame and then duct taped an antenna to that it would work. but i really dont know.

No, you would get so much propgation it would be rediculous.... plus all the engine noise and tranny noise would definately appear in your radio.

Maybe he doesn't want FM reception? CB (~27mhz)? WiFi (~2.4ghz?) Or hey, he may want a good space alien conversation pickup device. Especially when you rev the engine and hear them talking...

Did you shave the antenna from the fender, is that why you ask? There are a couple fixes for this...one, use the original antenna , just install it under the dash. Yes, there is room. Or, use one of the electronic antennas like Dakota Digital. I have used the under dash method, and it works fine.

Sure, use the chassis/body as an antenna. What'll happen is when you turn the radio on you'll get the RFI noise coming from the spark plugs/wires. So you'll hear this strange static whine that is copied from your engine RPM. You gun the engine, you'll hear the whine get faster and louder.
If you hook it directly to ground, you will blow stuff up, hopefully just a fuse, maybe cause a fire, or explosion of electrical components before the fuse goes. Close to ground with an air gap, i dont know, probably nothing but static kind of like a ground shield? Might pick up weird RF signals from the plug wires?

No you can't, as the 3rd gen has no frame
But yah, there are other options. My girlfriend's dad has one of those antennas built into the windshield. Works pretty well!

LET's ASK AUNT TENNA
Here’s a method you can use.
You can emulate GM’s antenna in the windshield.
You can bond, via superglue, a fine wire to the back
window, so you won’t have to stare thru it while driving/racing.
“If people drove any slower
they’d be going backwards.”
