Problem with lights on MacEwen white gauges

I just took apart my dash in my 1992 Camaro RS to put in my MacEwen white faced gauges (which was more annoying than anything to dissasemble..the faces slipped on easy though)

But now I have a problem. I got green bulbs to replace some of the existing bulbs. I couldn't remove the bulbs on them..they were stuck..so I used a screwdriver to push them out from underneath the grey sheath they lock into, which you then lock back into the rear of the dash bezel. Now, the green bulbs AREN'T WORKING!? Does anyone know what's wrong (I assume there is no contact for electricity) but has this happened to anyone? Please help..I need to drive at night, you know!

I had the same problem with mine in my 91 RS. Your right, there is no electricity getting to the bulbs. If you want to change the bulbs in the instrument panel you are supposed to replace the whole assembly with includes the bulb and housing. But fortunately you have two choices to get around this. You can, one, use the stock housings and solder the new bulbs to the old housing connector. Or two, you can go to a good auto parts store like autozone or advance and buy replacement housings for our instrument panel. Go to the lightbulb section and look for them, they are small black housings and all you do is pop the new bulb in it and screw it into the back of your instrument panel. This way is a lot easier than soldering. When you get this done let me know what color your instrument panel is at night. I got the blue bulbs and it is green at night when mixed with the stock yellow gauges.

Thanks man..but I just tried soldering them, and at first, the speedo light went on (I got green bulbs, 4 of 'em) and so did the oil/gas gauges..the other side didn't work. Then I went back and re soldered them and the only bulbs in were the four green ones..and nothing worked..what the hell? Nothing works now. Oh, and what exactly am I looking for at Advance or Autozone? I couldn't find them.

I found some at kragen, but they were extremely cheap and a waste of money...They would not lock into the slots when you turn them and would not line up correctly with the little pieces of metal so no elctricity.

I'd stick with the soldering

I think something shorted out though because now the whole cluster doesn't operate. I am getting new sockets tomorrow. =D
