T-top headliner swap

Aloah

alright...i was looking through a local boneyard today (just kinda for kicks) and found a 84 pontiac grand prix with t-tops...i took the tops and they fit in my 89 formula...it had a plastic headliner bit...i was wondering if anyone knew if this little part will fit my car?...its red but i can repaint no problem if it means a fix for my ragged little headliner...
Thanks for your help

I very much doubt that it will fit. The grand Prix didn't have a hatch (as far as I can remember) so the whole headliner is probably shaped different.

Spend a little bit more time and find one from an F-body.

BTW Grand Prix came with T-Tops???

Hola

well i got the top headliner...and it did fit...but i had to rig up something to reach the back plasic strip before the hatch (doesnt look as bad as it sounds) and im not sure if its factory or not...it could have been cut into the top...but it would have had to be the best chop job ive ever seen...

p.s. i can get pics of this car if you want..

All the 4th Gen G-bodies (Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Cutlass, Regal) were offered with T-tops. My brother has an '86 Olds 442 with factory Ts

Had to be aftermarket... I tried to fit the ones from my bro's 442 to my '86 Camaro SC... didn't fit.

I'd love to see pics of a G-Body with T-Tops. I NEVER saw one like that. I though T-Tops were F-Body exclusive.

T-tops were introduced to the American motoring public on the 1968 Corvette, hence the name T-top. (the chrome window frame, and the chrome divider bar forming a "T")Then some late 2nd gen F-bodies had them (mostley Trans-Ams) The 80's saw the introduction of the Targa top on the 'Vette, and T-tops on the G-bodies, as well as widespread use of T-tops on the 3rd gen F-bodies. Other car companies have also tried T-tops with dismal results. Ford with the Mustang in the late 70's (Mustang II, actually) and early 80's, and Dodge with the Daytona (I still can't bring myself to put IROC in front of that name)in the early 90's.

You will mostly see G-body Ts in the Monte Carlo SS, and the Hurst Olds/Olds 442 (Cutlass Supreme) followed closely by the Monte LS, but they were available on all the G-bodies. In fact they were standard as part of the G-body Hurst Olds/Olds 442 package.
