Fix it yourself?
Fix it yourself?
Friend of mine has an 88 black firebird he parked in the street and someone hit it. The damage kind of looks like this http://www.copartfinder.com/pix/2001...2554361_3X.jpg only its not along the entire side of the car and its on the drivers side (its probably only a foot long section of the driver side). Anyway.. probably isn't worth taking to a body shop.. could he fix this himself. (He doesn't have an internet connect thats why i'm posting this for him)
Doesn't look that bad, all he needs is a new quarter-panel an to check the frame to amke sure nothign else is bent. If the hit is as abd as in the pic he'll need a new bumper and DS taillight as well. The door doesn't look too bad, nothing a gallon of Bondo won't fix.
Its definetly not a junker, my car got two pretty bad hits on the PS and DS (both by women drivers in a 2 day period) and my friends said trash it, I din't listen to them, and yesterday I fisnished up and I am driving it to school tomorrow.

yeah, you can probably fix it yourself and just pocket insurance money (get high bids
) I had one kind of like that (PS though) last year, and used the money toward a total repaint of the car. But anyway, doesn't sound like too big of a problem, make sure there's no frame damage though.

You said it's not as bad as the pic. If it's just the door, replace the door with parts from a donor. If the rear quarter is damaged, slightly, it can be pushed out from behind rather easily. But, if your friend has to ask whether he can do it, he probably shouldn't unless he wants to learn.
In that picture, it looks like that car accidentally backed into that pole or something

The picture is just to give you and idea of what the damage on the real car is like since I can't get a picture of it. On the actual car some1 ran into the rear left end (the drivers side). So its like the corner is crunched in but not that bad... really it looks like a foot long section of the end of the drivers side rear fender is crushed.
how hard is it to change doors?
thnx!
