82 TA Ground FX & Cooling

I just noticed a question that was answered by Jims83TA about the GFX from 85 - 90 TA's would work on the 82 & 83 TA's.
I have an 82 TA CFI and want to get those most excellent GFX on my 82, but there's a question I need to be answered first.

If I get these GFX from an 85, will my engine run hotter since i'll be loosing those vents up in front....or do the 85's have the vents up in front as well?

I would REALLY appreciate some feedback on this since im slowly restoring my engine. The body is next. =D

Thanks!

It should be fine. The majority of your cooling comes from the deflector (or air dam) underneath the car.

Thanks for the reply jza.
I noticed that I do not have an air dam on the bottom, so I guess I need to get one before I even think about putting the GFX on.

Im thinking of taking out my 160 therm and putting in a 180 since im getting some overheating still.....plus I heard it works better.

Anyways, thanks for the reply, and if anyone knows a place where I can get the GFX, plase let me know. =)

The reason you're getting overheating is because you have no air dam. It is critcal for proper cooling. And if you have a 160° stat and you are overheating and you're going to change to a 180° ...that'll just make it worse.

Thanks MikeInAZ, that is so much help to me, thank you.
Your right, that air dam must be the problem since I see some TA's around town that have that under the car. I guess it didn't click in my head until a few days ago that I may want to check into that.

The problem I have is if I go to McDonalds to get a burger, it will start raising in temp. But when I get going, it's fine.
Im going to the dealer and checking out the price of one.

Thanks again! =)
