Need help getting rid of Battery Acid

I just recently bought my 92' and in the restoration process noticed a lot of battery acid on and underneath the battery box (from a previous battery, the current battery is not leaking and is in good shape). I cleaned all the acid off as best as I could and painted with PPG factory paint. That was a week ago, today I noticed the acid was returning and growing under the new paint, crap! Any ideas on how I can get rid of it for good? What to spray it with?

Thanks...Alex

B 4 painting again,, I'd suggest a galvanizing (zinc or zinc rich) primer (best stuff if from a welding supplier but, krylon zinc rich works almost as well). www.eastwoodcompany.com sells battery mats that also help combat this problem.

The long term effects are seen on most 67-72 chevy trucks, the fender corners on a majority are gone because of this which is why a patch panel is only made for the passenger side.
