Stupid Moonroof...

Well, the Z is coming along pretty nice, even though it's on hold for another two weeks seeing that I'm up at work. The only big hurdle left if the moonroof, I was going to just live with it, but then we had a real good rain, so now not only is it ugly as sin, but it leaks... So really I'd like anyone's advice with getting rid of this F-Body blasphemy if anyone has done this before, I dont want to just get rid of the car, it's 99% rust free! And the next one I build will def be a T-top. this car will be more race orientated, the next will be street.

Basically here's the plan: Remove glass and trim, 90* the corners for straightened edges, Create template for donor roof, cut what is needed leaving some material to work with (will be trying to leave bracing longer under patch to fix strength issues), weld it all up (my buddy will be doing this part, my welding is good, but he has a lot more experience than I do), grind welds flush and refinish!

does that sound about right? or anyone have any suggestions/ideas?

thanks!

Re: Stupid Moonroof...

Don't 90 degree the corners. A 90 degree intersection is more prone to cracking than a rounded corner.
