Different clearcoat and hardener

Hey Guys, I need to re-spray a side mirror and door valance. I still have some Kustom Shop clearcoat from when the car was sprayed last year, however I do not have anymore hardener. I have only seen the hardener for this product sold as a kit with the clearcoat and not separately. A local paint shop has Dupont clear hardener sold in 6 ounce cans which is all I need.

Can I use the Dupont hardener with the Kustom Shop clearcoat?

thanks

I know people who have mixed brands of clearcoat and haven't had trouble but I defiantly wouldn't recommend it. They aren't made for each other so you never know what will happen. It might dry to quick, it might never dry, or who knows what else.

I know it's not recommended but if some people have had success with it then I might try it with these two parts. I wouldn't even consider mixing brands for any part of the car except these two parts which are easy to re-prep and spray. I'm just trying to get out of having to pay 100 for the kit. If this fails then obviously I will have to but I'm thinking its worth the shot.
Thanks for the input.

As long as it's for the correct type of paint (urethane, enamel, etc), you should be fine. While one manufacturer may have a slightly different product than another, base and catalyst is more or less the same across all of the manufacturers, provided the overall paint type is consistent.
