My spoiler is cracked, i was wondering if these spoilers can be repainted? If not were is the best place to buy them, and about how much do they cost?

chances are, if your spoiler is "cracked" as you put it, then the spears, that run forward up onto the rear hatch glass, are a no longer smooth. Your best bet would be to get a Fiberglass one, and ditch the HEAVY Utithane spoiler.

The buldges (swelling) on the sides come from rusting of the metal tabs inside the spoiler. There is nothing you can do BUT replace it.

The cracks, if that is all the problems with your spoiler, can be sanded out, and primed & repainted. Make sure you use the FLEX agent in your primer and clear coat. I used a DA sander and made resonably fast work of it.

The cracks can be removed like Okfoz said, but they'll come right back. A new fiberglass spoiler is the only way to go.

Indeed, the new fiberglass aerowing is the ONLY way to go when replacing one of the GTA spoilers. I don't know anybody who has repaired an original aerowing and had it last any length of time. My original spoiler was R/R'd three separate times.... with the results lasting anywhere from one day to 2-1/2 months.

I just got my red GTA back yesterday from the shop and the results are fantastic! Here's some views of the GT Auto fiberglass spoiler:

Get one, folks.... I really believe you'll be glad you did.

My repaint on my spoiler has lasted since 1998, and it still looks like new (except where some punk threw some rocks from a bridge) got one small spot in the spoiler, scratchd my T's and cracked my Original windshield. caused some $1200 in damage... Fixed now...

I used Sherwin Williams paints. and had good luck.

I have to add, I am still getting a few of those GTA spoilers this winter... one for my driver, one for my 2nd Formula, and one for a friend. If anyone lives near Flint, MI, I will be ordering later this year, early next year and a group purchase might knock down the price a little.

John

James, that color is Code 81 Bright Red, and the WA # is 8774.... A really nice color, IMO.

I just picked up a 4th gen T/A spoiler on ebay for 60.00. They go on pretty good, some fiberglass work and differant holes in the deck lid though. I think they look better anyway,I'll just paint it along with the rest of the car.
