What would you do with this hood?
So, the guy who had the car before me thought it would be cool to drill holes in the hood of a stocker and put posts through it. I want to bring the car back to its original glory. Has anyone ever fixed something like this? Or, is it my best bet to replace the roof?
thx

Does the latch work correctly-- lock & safety catch? Interior hood release work?
If it does then get some sheet metal rounds & weld closed.?.

Keep the hood, lose the hood locks. Just a few patch welds and small body work.Depending on the third gen parts availability in your area. Unless you are looking for show quality and dont want to be able to see patches from underneath

I would replace it. If you weld up the holes you need to repaint it anyway so just get an unmolested one.
They're cheap enough.
The holes in the core support will need to be fixed if your going all the way...

Re: What would you do with this hood?
The key phrase in my prior statement was "parts availability" Texas should be better because of the dry climate and lack of snow. Take it from someone who has tried for a long long time to get a good hood close to me. Cheap? Yes I see them from $75-200. Most are at least 300 miles from me. This causes a problem for me, no truck to pick it up. Ship it you say? Aside from the cost, another problem. I had FOUR shipped from summit. One looked like they tap danced on it, one had the corners rolled over too badly to fix one was almost folded in half, the last had about two hours of body work it needed. I accepted it anyhow. When I go to fit it, it was 3/16" shrorter than the stock hood(this was an OER Iroc hood Summit sells) I drove an hour and half to look at a "mint GM hood" on craigs list. It had rust worse than my original, was bondo'd, and it was a repop. Just a heads up. Replacing is the best option, but don't get rid of yours until you know you have a good one that fits well. You may just end up with something like this.

Note the box within a box, and 4'' thick padding on the corners

that is crazy! you'd think they'd find a way to properly ship a part the offer to ship. But, maybe I'm just being silly.
I'm looking.. hope to find one near by. Want it to be nice..

Try to get a hood from a '88,'89 or '90.
They seem to be nicer
