Anybody make these?

The sheet metal channels your t-top seals go in.
The only rust on the car but mine are about gone. Anybody make them or will I have to fab up new ones myself?

Here's what's left of mine before I hit it with the wire wheel. The really rusted ones are now gone and there's not much left to hold the seals.

Best bet is to find a donor and drill the spot welds to get them off.

This is what I had to do with mine.

Those are available. Not sure if the ones I've seen were OEM or aftermarket. I don't remember exactly where I saw them for sale. Most likely Ebay, but could have been Hawk's Third Gen or Ecklers.

I just checked...there are several new and used ones on Ebay.

Re: Anybody make these?

Thanks guys

Didn't see any on the bay when I looked, must of used wrong search terms.

Anyway, the garage I'm using is a buddies and he had to push his 67 Chevelle SS out he's restoring to get my bird in so I'm on borrowed time there.
No 3rd gens left in any of the junk yards around here and needed something fast. My channels were not in bad enough shape to completely replace them, only the sides that curl around to form a C that the weather stripping fit's into was gone or so rusted I cut it out in a few places.
22 guage steel wrapped around 3/16 solid stock forms the perfect C to go back in so I made my own. Monday I'm going back over it, smooth out my welds and add seam sealer between the outside edges of the channel and the body to keep water out. Weather strip adhesive will go on top of that once I get the new weather strip installed so it'll be more weather/water proof than it ever was from the factory when finished.

Thanks but those listings are for the center section. Mines fine I needed the 2 pieces that go across the windshield frame and across the rear section of the roof that the bottom of the weather stripping sets down in. It's just a flat piece of metal about an inch and a half wide that the sides curle up on to hold the weather stripping.

Re: Anybody make these?

The "J" channels are not reproduced to my knowledge. Guess you are going to either need to fabricate them or find a donor roof. Somebody on youtube fabricated up new ones.

Re: Anybody make these?

Thanks, watched that whole video series on that Formula the night before I did mine. Pretty much did mine the same way except I replaced every bit that was rusty. If I remember correctly that guy left a lot of gaps in the channel.
Not a big deal really and he was doing it for a buddy. Doing it for yourself your going to try to get it all and make it like it was when new or better, at least that's what I did.
