has anyone tried moding rear speaker enclousers?

Ok, i put in a new pair of Infinity 6953i 6x9s in the rear, and they didn't sound as good as i would of hopped, especialy as far as bass response. However, i noticed that when i was putting them in, that a little work might be done to enclousure behind the speakers. has anyone tried doing anything to that area? would it be easy to make it air tight? or do my speakers just suck, anyone hear to have these?

You should post this in the car audio forum, people have done lots of things to that area.
