Where to get a 6 speed console indicator

Just wondering if anyone sells a 6 speed manual trans indicator (tells where each gear is) to replace the 5 speed one that is on stock center consoles.

I had a place that makes engraved plaques make me one for my '86 Camaro. Haven't installed it yet since I haven't purchased the tranny. I had them cut me a piece of black painted aluminum to the correct size, then had them engrave the pattern and numbers onto the plate. After they were done I very carefully painted the edge black, being careful not to get any paint on the top. It is adhesive backed and will go right over my 5 speed pattern. If you have a tan interior, you might want to consider using brass instead if you go this route.

Another option would be to have a piece of the same type metal (also used commonly for car show dash plaques) cut and silk screened with the pattern. This would look more stock than the engraving, but would also cost a lot more.

You could also use some glossy decal paper in an inkjet printer, and make one that way. Probably wouldn't hold up near as long, but it would be real easy to redo if it got damaged.

I think SLP might have that. When the original Firehawk was made in 91 & 92 they used a 6 speed, therefore they changed the plate.

Hope that helps.

Why couldn't you pick one up off a C4? They had the ZF6 which was a 6 speed. It would be cheap just go to the junk yard and pry the thing off and slip it into your pocket and go home if you pay for it I doubt they would charge more than a buck. Just an idea.

Can't use the Firehawk or C4 shift pattern indicator or **** because ZF is different shift pattern than T56. HOWEVER, you can use a leather C5 Corvette Shifter **** 12559931 (Dealer Net price 37.44). You could use the **** or take the emblem out of it and mount it on the console.

If you get the ****, why go through the trouble of installing the indicator on the console, use it teh way it is, and fill in the console. Some of the console ones I have seen are embossed in the plastic, use some body filler, a little black paint. be creative. Just a thought...

So nobody makes this mistake:

The C5 shifter does have the correct shift pattern on it but has the wrong threads. It will not thread onto the T56 shifter.

I just do not want anyone else to run into the same problem.

Why can't you just memorize it? Or do you have to have it to prove you have a 6 speed to everyone? lol
