We don't need them, we have the original blacked out tailights! They are even legal!
I'm talking about the trans am grid tails of course.
They can be pricey now, but they are definitely the best looking third gen (or any other eighties car) tails.

I think you'd need the wiring harness, but if you're getting them from a junkyard that should be no problem. The u-pull junkyard by me sells them by the pair (including the center piece) for 40 bucks.

The TA tails are a direct fit, some have said they had to lengthen some of the wires, but they bolt right in. I'm not sure what mods are required to get the 85-90 in your 91-92.

If that's true, go get them now, plenty of people paying double that for good 85-90 TA tails. A lot more for 91-92 tails. I think it's more likely your junkyard has a bunch of delaminated and cracked junk.

Re: trying to find gts tail light covers for firebird
85-90 T/A grid taillights were difficult to find in our local yards 10-15 years ago, finding them now would be almost impossible (least in my local places) and would cost a pretty penny. We sifted through a bunch of junk to find a good set of 85-90 T/A lights which I currently have on my firebird, and I do agree, they look fantastic...The only ones nicer are the 91-92 T/A tails, which are even more rare, and command an even higher dollar.
The 85-90 tails were a direct drop in for my 85 firebird, and should be for any 82-85 firebird. For the 86-92 base firebird/formula taillights (multi-color) you'll either need an 82-85 firebird harness, or an 85-90 T/A harness...Not sure if you can make the 91-92 firebird harness work with the 91-92 Trans Am taillights, but I'd think with some modding it'd be possible...since those tails have the yellow/red combo as well.

Re: trying to find gts tail light covers for firebird
to get back to the original question....
i've got the 3-piece GTO blackouts and i would really like to find a 1-piece (or a better installed 3-piece) blackout for the round tail lights. Does anyone sell anything like that?
I'm not really a fan of the rubber pieces that are used to connect the 3 pieces together.

Sounds like you're looking for the Knight Rider style blackout (but not sure what round taillights you're referring to?). This place here sells them for $100 http://www.adiautotech.com/extone.htm

Re: trying to find gts tail light covers for firebird
my tail lights are round not flat, so the knight rider blackout wouldn't work. After thinking about it for a few days, i think i'm going to scrap the plexi covers all together. I really like the clean look of either a tint film or find a way to spray tint them.
