Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
thanks! yeah I am also very interested to see if I like the mods. I am doing some funky paint stuff with the big bird on the hood, nothing big, just some little detail stuff. Hopefully soon we will see what it looks like!

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
well got all the color on the bumper covers. they turned out pretty nice. I changed the color layout on the front cover to try to eliminate a "tucked in bottom lip" look. so the silver comes down around the opening now instead of in line with the level of the color and going in across the bottom of the opening. I am painting the grill silver also, so we will see what we think about that when its together.

well, I wanted to have some shots of her going together, but I am still goofing around with the hood, and the bird I am painting on there. not sure if I totally dig it, will post some pics in a day or two of it. Here are some shots of the bumpers done for now.

here is kind of a cool shot of the headlight doors. if you look close the fall colors are in there reflecting in the paint from the tree over it.

Just read through your thread. You do some great work. I love how you did the bird. What color blue is that btw, I missed it if you already said.

yeah I listed it somewhere, might even be in one of the threads for either the front bumper mod or the rear bumper mod. I think it is in the front bumper mod thread. but this is what it is
its a GM color called luxo blue. and the GM number is WA933L, also called topaz blue

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
Wow your paint came out phenomenal! I wish I had a garage to put mine when I painted it!
My paint came out pretty well on mine though for doing it outside and my second time painting, I just have to wetsand some more and figure out how to get all the buffing marks out after sanding... They seem gone, but in the right light I still see them!!
Anyways great job on that paint. That blue and the bird remind me of Captain Falcon too. I was just think how awesome it would be if I had a blue firebird to drive on Halloween and be dressed as Captain Falcon (from the game F-Zero if you don't know who I'm referring too.) But my Red camaro will due just fine.

thanks bubba! yeah I've painted outside too. The best way to get really good at painting is do it allot. I will have to look up the f-zero game and see what your refering too.

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
Well, for the 2.5 followers I have
i'm sorry for how long it is taking me to put this back together. life is totally getting in the way LOL, I had to get an eagle project done for the boy. This time of year is stealing allot of my time also. Getting cold and I burn wood, so I have been busy cutting trees and splitting wood also. but now I think I can jam on this exterior!!! (remember how often i have said this before! lol) anyway, here are a few pics of the rear cover, and some of the exterior stuff on it. The door reassembly and all the new molding took some time. enjoy

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
I didn't get as far as i hoped over the holidays, but i did get allot done! so everything is assembled for the exterior minus a few trim pieces, and the hatch lid. I had some issues with paint on the deck lid. i think i will set the old silver one back on with that big *** fin!
just to have something on there while I re do the one I want. I also need to fit the hood and headlight assemblies. This week i hope to wrap it all up. I wish i could afford some new interior stuff, but the old one will be going back in for now. so... here are a ton of pics to enjoy!

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
so, as far as the custom stuff goes you will have to give me some feedback. I would like to hear what you think of it. I am still on the fence on it, so weather your positive or negative on what you think about it i would like to hear what you think. I know for sure its a negative for the purists, but let it be known it can go back to factory very easily as it is contained to just the front and rear covers being tweaked. I just always wanted to do this to see what it would look like.

The bird. Man that is an Amazing job. I think that came out wicked. And the paint. The paint; perfect color combo that I would have never thought would look so good.
You did what some of us would never attempt. And you did a great job at that!

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
thanks so much!!! and i have to agree with you on the different chin. I actually wanted to do that, but this old Z bumper i had laying around and was in poor shape. I was being cheap in wanting to go buy another. I may have to try that other one day and see if i can soften the grill "mouth" opening look a bit. thanks again!!! i really appreciate the feed back.

Re: SUBTLE CHANGE the rebuild
thanks Rubber Duck!!! that was kind of challenging for me. I still want to soften the "mouth" look to it. I think if i put matching blue stripes at the level of the bottom of the opening that should help allot! we will see soon!
thanks for the comments!
