I dont have this problem but I have read about it many times. It sounds like you have the famous 'sagging door' problem. Stock hinges dont hold up very well, time to replace em!

The door inge test: With the door open, pick up on the door, if it moves without moving the car, & you feel it is a little loose, your hinges are gone...
In short, when you pick up on the door, the whole car should move NOT just the door...
Been there done that.

Yes,The hinges are welded to the door! The lower hinge is easily repaired with readily available GM parts. But the UPPER hinge is a one piece design. No parts are available from GM to repair them. You must buy the whole UPPER hinge from GM @$57.19 ea. Then remove the door completly from the car,cut the old hinge off. Then drill new holes, and bolt the new one on.
I have developed a replacement UPPER hinge repair kit that can be installed in around 2 hours (I have done it in 47 minutes)without removing the door.

Or see my post on sagging doors on this board.I think it's on page two.Sorry, but I don't know how to link it.Perhaps someone can do it for me.
Thanx,ANDYZ28

I think lol www.www.com
I think lol www.www.com Even if the door is sagging, its not going to cause the latch not to latch. If the door comes open when you're driving then the latch isn't latching at all. Try lubing the door hinges and the latch assembly, if the problems continue then it could be sagging doors. Also if your doors are sagging enough to cause the doors not to latch then they'd be scratching the door sills.
My t-tops are tightly adjusted, so sometimes it takes a second try (a little harder then the first) to get them to close all the way when the windows are up. If the door pops open when going around a corner, then the latch may be worn out and need to be replaced. Even when my door doesn't close all the way, it is still held pretty securely by the latch.
