new paintjob... IDEAS!

ok, this may sound a little crazy...... ok, a LOTTA crazy, but I was just kinda thinking, couldn't you take that spray on truck bead liner stuff, and spray an entire car in it, and sand that stuff smooth, and clear coat it, and ave a nice new black paintjob that will help keep the car from rusting a little better? please help me, I'm just kind of brainstorming here....

sounds like it would work... would paint adhere to it though??? (using it like a sealer right?)

well, most of that stuff says it's paintable.. and I wasn't going to paint it anyway, just clear coat it, it's already black, and I want it to be a black car, and the clearcoat would make it kinda shiney... I'm not sure....

Why not use POR15? It's paintable, available in High-gloss, and prevents rust. My whole underbody and fenderwells are getting a coat of it soon so these St. Louis salt roads don't get to my frame and such.

The spray on bed-liner idea would never work. I sprayed the bed on my 86 chevy truck with that stuff about a year ago. It is made of all kinds of crap like rubber and asphalt. It would be a pain in the axx to sand it down smooth enough to get a good-looking paint-job. If you do decide to try it let us know how it turns out, I'd be interested.

I wouldn't do it. If that stuff looks bad after its on, it will be a PITA to get it back off the car. Think about it,the stuff is supposed to protect a truck bed that gets used and abused.

I just saw a PT Cruiser with the lower pannels like you're thinking and was clear coated. I didn't really like it. Then again, I don't like PT Cruisers either!
