Cowl Induction Hoods
I need a cowl hood for my car. I believe a 2" cowl will give my air cleaner the clearance I need, but I also think the 4" cowl looks badass. Anyone have experience with either? I'd like to hear peoples experiences with cowl hoods. Opnions are welcome! It's for my 87 IROC-Z

Re: Cowl Induction Hoods
well, to confuse you further,...a lot of 2" hoods measure 3" at the cowl opening, lol. i'm a tall guy and i wouldnt want a 4" if i didnt need it, just because it would be in the way. JMO. but if you like a 4" and it doesnt bother you, go for it. do you happen to have a friend with one that would let you sit in the car? i have a 2" and think its plenty for the street.

I see the 3" Harwood bolt on looks great! I would really like to get it, but 573 dollars BEFORE freight cost for the bolt on is just out of my budget :/

i run 2.5 inch goodmark, it measures closer to 3 at highest point. ppl complain of not being able to see but i have never had an instance where it blocked my vision. This wasnt at my eye height i am 6-1. i guess if you were short you'd have problems. camaro's were made for cowls!

Re: Cowl Induction Hoods
are you wanting fiberglass or steel?
heres a 4", bolt-on, glass hood for $350. i've never used them, but they come to drag strips now and then. if you can wait, and meet them at a track, you can pick it up there and not pay shipping.

maybe somebody on here has one and can give a review?

Re: Cowl Induction Hoods
yeah i always forge if they call that hood the 2 inch or 2.5 anyway Ronus has the same hood as me. I like it. It is metal which makes it more durable for my daily driver. But I may go fiberglass someday in the future when my car doesnt have to sit in the sun all the time.

I have the bolt on 4" Harwood, Its not hard to see out of but it does take some getting used too. You should know that even though it is a bolt on hood, it needs a lot of trimming to make it fit just right.

The pic from inside is not the greatest

[QUOTE=Blue 90 RS;5710334]This is a 2" cowl hood I got from Classic Industries. It's a bolt-on steel hood with functioning cowl induction. I got it for $570.00 including shipping from California to North Carolina.

This by far, has to be my favorite 2" cowl....Nice even lines all the way back, and doesn't "rake" up by the windshield...Just personal preference...
