odd light

Above the heater panel on my GTA, there is a sort of directional light which would (if the bulb worked) shine down acrss the heater controls maybe onto the ashtray.
Does anyone know how to change the bul / fitting as it is on short wires, and I cannot take it apart.

help always appreciated.

Cheers

Richard

After having my car for two years, I just realized I had that when my g/f found it. I can see any purpose of that light.

Don't really know to get to it, or what you can do with it either.

If you remove the IP trim piece, that should gain you access to that light...

to do it, remove dash pad, (makes life easier) (4 screws on top, several on bottm) then the piece left of your steering column (2 screws going straight up), the trim piece in front of your passenger that has "Performance suspension" on it, remove the panel. (3 screws straight up) then all the screws holding on the trim piece.

WHEN removeing the trim piece lower your TILT steering all the way down & unscrew the adjuster to make life a little easier.

My light does help a little when looking at my heater Controls

My friend's 89 firebird has one. Its just a little white light to help you see the radio/heater. Actually I think its so you can find the pathetically small ash tray at night...

That light is a ashtray light i have one in mine the bulb was dead never knew it was there til i took the dash off one day at first i thoght it was some kind of climate control sensor but then i saw a lightbulb in it. Not to many people notice them the light that comes out is soo faint you can barely see it

You may consider getting a brighter light to put into its place. I know there are different briteness bulbs, which are "interchangable" but they have a different number.

Just a thought, thinking about puting a second light in my car...

I have to say that I didn't like that light so I took the bulb out of mine. It's alittle harder to find the ashtray at night but that's ok.
