Anybody ever get herritage stripes from hawks and clear over them? I got silver heritage stripes from them and they seem really shiney on top. Just wondering if clear coat will stick on them. I really dont want to put the decals over the clear. Thinking they would get ruined pretty fast or sun fadded

 

You can clear over the stripes or decals of any kind, buuuuttt within a few weeks or months, the clear will begin to crack. The decals expand and contract with the changes in temperature. I've done it, so I know.

To solve the problem, I painted the heritage stripes on, then cleared over them completely "burying" the stripes so that no tape line can be seen or felt. It works for me.

 

How did you paint them on? Did you use buy a stencil or buy stripes and trace them or what?

 

Just stick them on over the clear. Keep them clean and waxed with the rest of your car. They won't fade if you take care of them.

 

I just took basic measurements before I removed the old decals, then free-handed the stripes based on those measurements after I had applied the basecoat.
