Passenger door filled with water
Passenger door filled with water
Hey everybody,
It's been raining quite a bit here lately, and my passenger door seems to have filled up with water, I can hear it gushing when driving and using the door.. I know my rubbers are all bad, they're still original, and could get a replacement kit for all of them off of RockAuto for like $100. That should solve the problem, right? The only problem is that I currently don't have the money, any temporary solutions you guys may have? I don't really want to drill a hole into the door or anything, maybe just pumping it out after serious rainfal could be the best option although I really don't like it being there at all.
And on a sidenote, my central locking has gone out, not much later after I noticed the water.. surely the too can't be related? Did -that- much water build up to make it shortcircuit.. is that even possible? And besides, the module behind it gives no response at all on anything anymore as it seems, no blinkers blinking or anything either. Like a week ago the buttons in the door panel for the central locking also stopped functioning, no idea why, they always worked before that. It's nice to have them as the car sometimes has a tendency to lock itself and besides it's a nice luxurious thing people always notice.
Thanks in advance for your two cents, guys!

Re: Passenger door filled with water
The door already has holes on the bottom .Maybe they full of dirt and don't allow the water to drain out.Btw hope you know that if you let the water stay in the door it will rust the door .
Re: Passenger door filled with water
aquarium in the passenger door can be tossed in the ******* then..? I mean.. just think about it.. how cool that could've been..! But seriously, yeah it's pretty common knowledge, mate ;P That's why I want to get it out of there
in the first place, but thanks for the reminder regardless.
And thanks for the info, amtct, I'll check ASAP. As for GOATS2QUICK, that could be a possible solution, but then again I really don't want to have to drill any extra holes or anything that are not intended to be there.

Re: Passenger door filled with water
As goat stated, there should be 3 pill shaped plugs with a small notch (the drain) and a round hole on each bottom corner (of the door). Plugs can be removed to flush muck out of doors with garden hose.
Had this same problem with my old 84 camaro.

i'd take the door panel off and vacuum with wet /dry vac and like others have mentioned your doors should already have drains/holes already in them so my guess would be some sort of debris is blocking them from draining properly.
Re: Passenger door filled with water
Thanks for the picture, man! That really helps to clear things up and know what to look for, although I did not find such a hole in the door.. seems hard to overlook though, but I'll have another look when I'm with the car again. Is there a chance my passenger door doesn't have them though? It seems to slowly leak somewhere near where the door is hinged, not near the hinge but at the bottom though. Yet no big drain hole or plug, possibly an aftermarket door or something odd like that which doesn't have the hole or something?

I'm guessing if you see no holes from front to rear then your doors have been repaired before.
the lowers probably had rust and somebody bondoed or seam sealed over the holes during the repair, If that's the case make some new holes in the bottom of the door..
