Looks like a total. Rear quarter repairs that require more than a bit of bondo usually total a 3rd gen. You'll need a new quarter skin, door, fender and paint. Shame, I love the non-gfx banshee birds

Dont know if you can total it if the frame behind the quarter skin is intact but you sure have to repaint the whole car if you want it to look good after that.Btw all unibody cars have that problem ...I dont know any new modern car with removable quare panels.

any pics with the cop's car ...I want to see how wrecked is after that

Re: my 92' bird hit by police cruiser

Doesn't matter if there's frame damage.Once the cost exceeds the value of the car, ins will write it off.
Knowing the damn law, they will claim the damage was during the course of officers duties.Making it near impossible to sue or even break even.Hopefully you can save it, its not a total loss...good luck.

Re: my 92' bird hit by police cruiser

So if you dont have insurance they can wreck your stuffs and you won't see your object back? wtf....not only I'd sue the cops ,I'd sue everything that can be sued to get my onject back. That means if a cop goes on a rampage and destroys half the country no one is to blame...

Re: my 92' bird hit by police cruiser

I'm really sorry to hear. I've always been weary of those driving by. My step-brother was making a normal neighborhood and a cop came out of nowhere, and to maneuver away the cop had to go through somebody's yard and hit a tree... Some people need better driving skills, or not to be so distracted. Once you know your vehicle it should be second nature to judge distance from the sides.

Please keep us posted on how things follow through. The department's insurance needs to cover that, gracefully.

I agree, just be pleasant, if they begin to give you attitude, just go further up the chain.

Re: my 92' bird hit by police cruiser

yeah the insurance adjuster assumes a write off as well... i will most likely have the option of buying the car back but with the damage that has occured i may need to scrap her and look for another.
